Aviram Freiberg – musician/composer
Aviram Freiberg is a multifaced musician, horn player, singer, teacher, researcher and composer.
Aviram concentrates mainly on composing chamber operas. His first opera, “Ketem” (Stain), (2005), was performed successfully in Israel in 2007/8 in various venues including the Khan Theatre in Jerusalem and “Kfar-Blum” music festival, 2008. In 2011 and 2012 “Ketem” was chosen to participate in the International Gay Theatre Festival in Dublin.
In 2017 two chamber operas after Nobel Prize Winner S.J. Agnon’s short stories, “The Lady and the Peddler” (2015) and “Tehilla” (2017) were produced by the “Studio” theatre in Haifa, and performed in Haifa, Tel-Aviv and Jerusalem.
In his operas, Aviram finds a fertile ground to combine his acquaintance with both the human voice and the orchestral body into a large-scale composition. He is influenced by Jewish traditional music and incorporates in his works Jewish motives and modes. Aviram has also created the libretti for the operas “Kmo Kulam” (“Just Like Anyone Else”, 2013), “The Lady and The Peddler” and “Tehila”, and collaborated with his partner, Ronen Moldovan who contributed the libretto for “Ketem” (2005) and for some songs composed by Aviram.
Among his works there are numerous songs, chamber operas, orchestral works, choral music and chamber music.
